Job Description

Artifax is pleased to offer the role of AWS Cloud Engineer working with and learning from our team of highly skilled talented professionals.

Within this role you will be primarily designing, building, enhancing, managing, and maintaining internal and customer hosting infrastructure in AWS. You will also have maintenance duties, such as managing upgrades, responding to trouble tickets and alerts, developing patches or fixes for any issues that arise, and review and auditing cloud spend and forecast. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and security of the systems, as well as driving innovation and optimization to shape the future of our cloud infrastructure.

Reporting directly to the Head of Software Development, as a AWS Cloud Engineer, you will be working closely with the Operations Director, Technical Services Team, Development Team, Helpdesk and key internal stakeholders. You’ll experience a unique working environment where teams from different backgrounds, disciplines and experience enjoy collaborating widely and openly, share different perspectives, and constantly discovering new ways of solving complex problems.



Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • AWS Cloud certification
  • At least 2 years’ of Experience working as a Cloud Engineer with AWS
  • Strong knowledge and experience of AWS Cloud services such as EC2, load balancing, VPCs, Subnets, IAM, CloudWatch, API gateway, S3, RDS and/or Aurora and ACM (SSL)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows Servers/IIS, Microsoft SQL Server
  • DevOps background/experience
  • Experience working with CI/CD build, test and deploy pipelines
  • Scripting ability (like PowerShell and/or Python)
  • Experience with configuration management tools and infrastructure as code
  • Experience in cloud-automation



Key Duties, Involvement, And Responsibilities

  • Manage the companies AWS accounts, to ensure high availability of our hosted platforms and services
  • Manage upgrades to all server operating systems and Artifax applications
  • Ensure the spend on AWS system and services are kept within budgeted limits
  • Administer and maintain the hosting of the Artifax sftp service
  • Be responsible for backup routines on all internal and externally hosted system, according to company policy and procedure
  • Engage in and improve the lifecycle of services through deployment, operation and refinement
  • Support the deployment of cloud-based infrastructures
  • Work on system audits
  • Work with Technical services team and Development team to advise and contribute to security improvements, cloud architecture, operational stability, cost management, tenders and reporting requirements for our cloud solutions
  • Work on initiatives that develop and facilitate the infrastructure and tooling including ongoing adoption of CI/CD and DevOps automations
  • To be willing to work outside of core office hours both in emergencies and to minimise disruption to the company and its customers when implementing upgrades
  • When required, to document procedures and create technical diagrams
  • Assist in managing budgets where required and/or appropriate
  • Present reports defining project progress, problems and solutions as required
  • Participate in department, company, and wider portfolio meetings and events



Desirable Skills But Not Essential

  • Experience with infrastructure migration
  • Experience with cloud security
  • Experience with developing microservices
  • Knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu)
  • Knowledge of MySQL
