We are looking for a talented individual to join our team in the role of a Systems Administrator who will focus on improving the efficiency of our infrastructure and availability of our
applications. This candidate must have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with experience managing enterprise class applications and infrastructure.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide management and support for a virtualized Linux environment
- Maintain site servers and hosted web applications, ensuring uptime and site responsiveness
- Maintain and enhance monitoring systems for better analytics and quicker responses to system events
- Handle server upgrades and migrations to help maintain an up to date ecosystem
- Investigate performance issues and system outages and develop long lasting solutions
- Develop tools and scripts to assist with routine maintenance tasks
- Contribute to system & infrastructure documentation
- Handle off hours emergencies or upgrades as needed
Required Skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills, using various monitoring platforms and in- system logs
- Strong documentation skills, in both current projects and researching existing systems.
- 5+ years experience managing Linux systems, with knowledge of Ubuntu or similar distributions
- 3+ years experience in virtualization, primarily using KVM as a hypervisor.
- Experience in managing disks using technologies like LVM, ext4, and reiserfs
- Experience in Linux high availability tools such as heartbeat, corosync, and drbd
- Experience in DNS configuration using Bind9 or similar
- Strong experience in Apache webserver configuration, including configuring proxies, load balancing, and rewrites
- Experience in analyzing Apache weblogs for trends and potential malicious activity
- Experience in Apache Tomcat7,8,9 configuration and maintenance, including adjusting JVM configurations and monitoring package deployments.
- Experience in managing MySQL databases, including handling backups, restores, and migrations to newer databases with minimal impact.
- Experience in configuring and using system monitors such as Zabbix and Nagios.
- Experience in writing, maintaining, and debugging system scripts, with a focus on bash.
- Experience in using and managing repositories such as SVN and Git
Desired Skills
- Experience in implementing and managing a code pipeline and automation using DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Octopus, Puppet, Ansible, etc.
- Experience in using and managing VMWare hypervisors as well as migrating existing systems to the VMWare platform
- Experience with managing Elastic search and implementing for analytics.
- Operational experience with public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, etc.)
