A U.S.-based technology startup that is fighting to drive criminal justice reform via technological solutions is looking to hire a Full-Stack Engineer. The selected candidate will work with an impact-driven company to develop and design the company website and expound its ideas. The company is currently working with public defense agencies to develop video evidence management software that allows attorneys to analyze crucial data and advocate for everyday citizens. This team of empathetic technologists who are committed to racial and economic justice has managed to raise over $2.2 mn through seed funding.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain customer-facing as well as server-facing features
- Understand user feedback and market needs to create new goals for the engineering team
- Analyze UI mocks to implement UI/UX changes
- Review the company platform and architecture to analyze how it informs frontend features
- Write clean, reusable code, and utilize best coding practices to reduce technical debt
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
- At least 3+ years of relevant experience as a Full-Stack Engineer
- Experience working with and knowledge of React, Node, Express, and TypeScript
- Previous experience with React testing library, Jest, and Node.js testing with Mocha.js
- Familiarity with web app performance and reliability monitoring
- Confident writing front-end code that is testable and its associated unit tests
- Understanding of broader web concepts such as CORS, REST requests, and web security
- Knowledge of React front-end infrastructure, compilation, and organization (such as web pack, code splitting, etc)
- Familiarity with design patterns and their use-cases
- Must be kind, compassionate, and careful about social impact
- Independent worker who’s eager to be a thought partner and a leading voice in the company product roadmap development
- Skills in Python and Machine Learning (with natural language processing/NLP) would be a bonus
- Nice to have experience with Amazon Web Service, AWS console, Heroku deployment, and Microsoft Azure Cloud Suite
- Previous experience with cloud-based video/audio manipulation and engineering would be an asset
- Experience working with browser-based rich-text editor applications would also be appreciated
- Good with verbal and written English communication
